Privacy notice
Your CV contains personal information. This explains, in plain language, what we do with it, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
The CV you upload or paste (for example your name, contact details, work history, qualifications and references) and the job you say you're applying for. If you create an account, we also keep your email address, your paid CVs, your order history and any review you post.
Why we use it
Only to rewrite and design your CV. We don't use it for marketing, and we never sell or share it with employers or anyone else.
How it's processed
- Your file is sent securely to an AI service (Anthropic's Claude) that rewrites it. This service may process data outside South Africa. It doesn't use it to train its models.
- We do not store your uploaded file. The rewritten text is held on our server for a few minutes until your browser collects it, then deleted. Anything left over is deleted automatically within 24 hours.
- While you're working on it, your CV is saved in your own browser on your own device.
- When you unlock a CV, it's saved in your account so you can download it again on any device. Our account and database provider (Supabase) stores it in the United Kingdom. You can delete any CV from your account at any time, and it's removed straight away.
Job matches
We show links that search job sites such as Indeed, PNet and Careers24 for the job titles and town on your CV. Nothing is sent to those sites until you tap a link, and then only the job title and town are in the search. Your CV is never sent. If we show live listings, only a job title and town go to our listings partner (Adzuna). Once you're on a job site, its own privacy policy applies.
Reviews
If you post a review, the name and town you enter are shown publicly on our home page with your review. You can change or delete it from your account.
References
If your CV lists references, please make sure those people are happy to have their contact details shared.
Payments
If you pay by EFT or another method, we keep a record of the payment and your unlock code, as the law requires for financial records.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
